P-TECH Academy

About the P-TECH Academy

The Moody P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School) Academy is an early college program at Moody. It provides a trifurcated academic pathway to EITHER Engineering, Welding, or Medical Professionals in partnership with Del Mar College.

The CITGO Innovation Academy is our Engineering pathway. This pathway uses Project Lead The Way (PLTW) to adopt a problem-solving mindset, and engage in compelling, real-world challenges that help students become better collaborators and thinkers, and are prepared with skills to step into any career path they take.  Each PLTW Engineering course engages students in interdisciplinary activities like working with a client to design a home, programming electronic devices or robotic arms, or exploring algae as a biofuel source. These activities not only build knowledge and skills in engineering, but also empower students to develop essential skills such as problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance.  Students will have the opportunity to earn their Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Rivit Architecture certifications.  Admission into the P-TECH Engineering Academy is strictly by application.

The Welding Pathway explores the development and use of automatic and computer-controlled machines, tools and robots that perform work on metal or plastic. Students will have the opportunity to earn their AWS Certified Welder D1 as well as the NCCER Welding Level 1 along with up to 15 hours of dual credit hours to apply towards an Associates degree.  Admission into the P-TECH Welding Academy is strictly by application. Students can only be admitted in grade 9. Students who successfully complete the program will earn the Business and Industry graduation endorsement.

The Medical Professionals Pathway was established as a school–within-a-school in August 2001 and is open to all students in CCISD. The Academy consists of an identified group of students who have been formally accepted through the admissions process. Each student commits to a rigorous academic experience as they look forward to careers in the medical profession. The academy provides a rigorous, learning experience for selected students throughout the district. In partnership with Del Mar College, academy students participate in classroom and on-site clinical experiences in the health care field. Students have the opportunity to earn certifications in 4 of 6 areas namely: EKG, Phlebotomy, PCT, Medical Assistant, CNA and EMT before graduation.

Admission into the P-TECH Academy is strictly by application. Students can only be admitted in grade 9. Students who successfully complete the program will earn the Business and Industry graduation endorsement.
